HOLD on a Jacuzzi / Sundance hot tub: panel buttons locked out

The panel has seen too many button presses in a short time, or a button is stuck, and it is ignoring input for a moment. Wait and it normally clears. The tub is safe.

Most likely causes

  1. 1Buttons pressed many times quicklymost likely
  2. 2Water or something resting on the panelcommon

What to try, in order

  1. Stop pressing buttons and wait 30 seconds to a minute.
  2. Dry the panel and make sure nothing is resting on it, including the cover.
  3. If HOLD will not clear, reset power at the breaker for 30 seconds.
  4. If it keeps returning, the topside panel may need replacing.

HOLD questions

Why does my panel say HOLD when nobody touched it?

Water pooled on the panel, or a cover pressing on it, can register as button presses. A worn panel with a stuck button does the same.

Does HOLD affect heating?

No. The tub keeps heating and filtering. Only the buttons are paused.
