Hot tub pumps

Match a replacement pump to the label on your old motor: voltage, one or two speeds, amps, and frame size (48 or 56). Then check the plumbing size and whether the discharge is side or center. Amps are a better guide than horsepower, and you can often replace just the wet end or just the motor.

We're still adding these to the store. Ask AskTub which part you need and we'll point you to it.

Questions

Can I install a more powerful pump than the original?

Only if the control board, fuse, and plumbing are rated for the higher amp draw. In most cases, match the original pump's amps within about 10 percent.

What is the difference between a jet pump and a circulation pump?

A jet pump is the large pump that powers the jets. A circulation pump is a small, quiet, low-flow pump that runs most of the day to filter and heat the water.

Should I replace the whole pump or just the wet end?

If the motor is quiet and clean and the problem is a leak or a cracked housing, a new wet end is enough. If the motor is noisy, rusted, or old, replace the complete pump.
