FLO on a Gecko hot tub: no water flow detected

The system does not detect water flow while the main pump is running, so the heater stays off. The tub is safe to sit in but will not heat until flow is restored.

Also shown as: FLOW, FL

Most likely causes

  1. 1Dirty or clogged filtermost likely
  2. 2Low water level or an air lockcommon
  3. 3Closed valves or blocked suctioncommon
  4. 4Failed pressure or flow switchless common
  5. 5Pump not running or worn outless common

What to try, in order

  1. Check that the water level is above the highest jets.
  2. Turn off power at the breaker, remove the filter, and rinse it.
  3. Restore power and see if the code clears with the filter out. If it does, deep clean or replace the filter.
  4. Bleed any air lock by pulsing the pump between low and high with all jets open.
  5. Check that the slice valves near the pump are fully open.
  6. If water flows strongly and FLO stays, the flow or pressure switch is the likely part.

FLO questions

Can I use my hot tub with a Gecko FLO code?

Yes, but it will not heat. Clean the filter and check the water level first, since those fix most FLO codes.

Why does FLO appear only sometimes?

A filter that is partly clogged can pass enough water on some cycles and not others. An intermittent FLO is an early sign the filter needs a deep clean or replacement.
